Blowing off steam

Do you have Women's Liberation tendencies?
I DO!!!!

Every once in a great while, I wonder what it would feel like to never need to do anyone else's laundry or iron anyone elses pants. Tonight I completely forgot and while I stood there, mouth hanging open, willing my eyes to not cross at the 4 foot high laundry pile, I asked DH, "if you didn't get married, you'd be an accountant, wouldn't you?"

It seemed to me that men whether married or not would pursue the same interests. Granted, if my DH wasn't married, he'd already be living in Wyoming and guiding people on hunts... See, my issue here is, I don't want to do more laundry tonight. I don't like ironing.

The way I see it? If i hadn't gotten married, I wouldn't be doing these tedious chores.

Where's the balance? I know it's out there because I love my family and I wouldn't give them up for anything!!! Some nights I just gotta let off some steam...

And thankfully, I have a husband who lets me then makes me laugh when i'm through.

  1. I have a husband who was well trained by his mother and two older sisters.

I count my blessings every day! :D

  2. Ha. Um, does that mean HE does all the laundry and irons his own clothes???

  3. My husband and I were 37 when we married, and it was the first marriage for both of us. So we had been taking care of ourselves for quite a while. We've been married 12 years now, and he still does his own laundry. I wash the communal stuff like towels and sheets, but he washes his own clothes and cleans his own toilet.

  4. Well, he operates the machinery (he is an engineer after all), and then piles the clean laundry on the small sofa in the living room until, as I said, we have guests coming or one of us cracks (usually me). It is then folded and put away. Perhaps the pause in the process counts as airing.

What is this "ironing" of which you speak?

  5. That should have been "as I have said before". And I will not turn off my internal editor. :D

  6. I personally refuse to iron. If they want something pressed, they better figure out how to do it themselves. lol

  7. My fiance's way too nice. All I have to do is start a sentence with: "I don't want to... (cook, clean, do laundry, etc.)" and the fiance will do it for me. :)

  8. My husband does the cooling and clraning now. I work and write. Love my life.

  9. Well, I do most of it. He used to do toilets. But we have an agreement, he does the outside stuff and me the inside. Man, was I dumb. But it's all good. I don't mind it most of the time, and he'll help me when I get overwhelmed. He knows better than to nag.

  10. Mine is an equal opportunity household. Though I do the laundry (I don't iron...I find if clothes get ironed once, they come out of the dryer more wrinkled...best to nip it in the bud), The Man cooks 90% of the time and does pretty much everything else.

  11. Yeah, leigh, I had some feelings last night. Like I was getting the short end of the stick. He reminded me that I wasn't.

  12. I do all the ironing, but I can't complain because I'm the only one who thinks Ironing needs to be done. Hubby thinks it's a waste of time, and therefore owns nothing that needs to be ironed except a couple of suits and dress shirts which he breaks out on special occasions.

  13. I think I've ironed maybe twice in my life and that's only when I'm trying to avoid writing a synopsis. Most of the clothes I own are dresses so don't really need to iron anyway. As for laundry, the man definitely pitches in. If he didn't, he wouldn't have clean clothes ;)
